Treating symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men who have an enlarged prostate gland. Dutasteride/tamsulosin is a 5 alpha-reductase inhibitor and alpha-blocker combination. The 5 alpha-reductase inhibitor (dutasteride) works by lowering levels of a hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is a major cause of prostate growth. The alpha-blocker (tamsulosin) works by relaxing muscles in the prostate and bladder. Dutasteride/tamsulosin helps to decrease the size of the prostate and reduce symptoms of BPH.
Sitagliptin is an oral diabetes medicine that helps control blood sugar levels. It works by regulating the levels of insulin your body produces after eating. Sitagliptin is for people with type 2 diabetes. It is sometimes used in combination with other diabetes medications, but is not for treating type 1 diabetes.
Jardiance (empagliflozin) is an oral diabetes medicine that helps control blood sugar levels. Empagliflozin works by helping the kidneys get rid of glucose from your bloodstream. Jardiance is used together with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Jardiance is also used to lower the risk of death from heart attack, stroke, or heart failure in adults with type 2 diabetes who also have heart disease. Jardiance is not for treating type 1 diabetes.
